2023 KASTANIENBUSCH Riesling GG
Incredibly intense wild herb and berry aromas plus flinty energy on the extremely focused, medium-bodied palate. Then a giant wave of stony minerality washes over you, almost knocking you off your feet. So filigreed and brilliant in the almost endless finish. Still so young, this great dry riesling masterpiece needs decanting and large glasses if you want to drink it young.

2023 GANZ HORN Riesling GG
Intensely smoky with laser-beam straightness and abundant power, this youthful dry riesling GG needs plenty of aeration to gradually open up. Then you get notes of licorice and dried orange peel. Vibrates in an extraordinary way on the compact, medium- to full-bodied palate, then builds to a monumental finish that is still really tight.

2023 SCHÄWER Riesling GG
Dry rieslings with this kind of crystalline purity and slatey intensity are extremely rare in the Pfalz region. I love the aromas of dripping flowers and leaves after a summer storm. Delightful and serious on the super-focused, nova-bright and medium-bodied palate, then enormous wet stone minerality in the extremely long and precise finish.

2022 IM SONNENSCHEIN Spätburgunder GG
The compelling aromas of red fruit, Damson plums, summer flowers and baking spices pull you irresistibly into the velvety vortex of this very concentrated, medium- to full-bodied Pfalz pinot noir. It has the structure of Clos de la Roche Grand Cru from Burgundy, which builds and builds on the simultaneously imposing and graceful palate. How does that work? The important thing is that it really does.

2023 IM SONNENSCHEIN Riesling GG
At this very early stage in the wine’s life, its nose is like a smokescreen. The power and ripeness are already exactly matched by the fine tannins and energetic acidity on the compact, medium- to full-bodied palate. Very long, tightly wound, stony finish that some may find a bit austere, but I accept as a product of this terroir.

2023 MANDELBERG Weißer Burgunder GG
What a ravishing nose of stone fruit, quince and summer meadows this great dry pinot blanc has. The fantastic combination of creaminess and chalky minerality makes it very exciting on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Lots of dried pears and a hint of quince paste plus deep bass notes in the imposing yet very bright finish.

2023 IM SONNENSCHEIN Weißer Burgunder GG
Very cool and bright for such a concentrated dry pinot blanc from this rather warm region. Captivating aromas of fresh nuts, ripe pears and candied citrus. Fabulous combination of creaminess and precision on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Super-long chalky finish that’s self-confidently dry (one of this producer’s hallmarks).
